Having experienced so much in Mexico City, even the backpacks are getting tired and hungry and started complaining.
“I’ve been working hard carrying all your stuff. But you know what? I’ve got this rumbling going on, and it’s not for books or gadgets – it’s a serious case of hunger! Feed me, please! I’m craving some snacks, maybe a granola bar, or that sandwich you packed. Come on, don’t make me carry an empty stomach!”
As the temperature plummeted to -15 degrees Celsius, a biting cold enveloped us. We realized that this could mark the end of our adventures for quite some time…
Perhaps some would call us crazy, but our pursuit for new experiences and our strong desire to push boundaries, strengthened our determination, as well as our freezing bodies.
One might be even surprised – it was not as cold as expected!
Hippocrates is known as the “father of medicine”. Although he’s dead for thousands of years, his legacy and knowledge are still known and admired today.
So if he decided that Kos is THE island to be and live, who are we to question him?!
We decided to visit the island. Come join us and see, what we’ve found! (spoiler alert: it’s not infinite youth…)
Coming out of the church, we thought we got a spiritual message. We all started hearing music from far away! But we could not determine the direction it came from!
Just as we wanted to give up, we found it. In a way it was sort of a miracle! On the small square in front of “Konoba Toma”, a small town fest was happening. The music was local and the wine was FREE!!!
Nelly almost cried! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!
Get bundled up in your most furry jacket, because we are hitting the snow with the most handsome and strong puppies in the world! We are frost-smitten by the Husky dogs sledging experience in “Tromsø Wilderness Centre“
Who could pick his favourite Alaskan husky, among the many lead dogs, point dogs, swing dogs and wheel dogs?
Believe us…It’s harder than it sounds!
The sun and the sweet, salty breeze helped us stay positively thinking backpacks. We smiled and said to ourselves “That couldn’t be! It’s a perfect day, nothing can go wrong!”. Seems like the car felt our positive energy and started immediately! Giannis, our driver, was excited and confirmed our thoughts: “You’re very lucky today!”. Let’s see if that holds on…
After an hour of sitting and enjoying the cold Latvian wind on board of the cruise ship, evening has arrived. Well, at least our watches said so. It should be evening, but it was not getting dark!
Why? In Latvia one can witness the white night in summer. This is a desirable weather feature if you are a tourist and you’re in a hurry to experience many things in a short time. However, living there…this might be a totally different thing…
Are adventurous (and sometimes dirty) backpacks even allowed on Santorini with its fancy restaurants and crazy expensive villas?!
We decided to give it a try! N. Back and P. Pack are going on an exquisite trip to Santorini, and you’re welcome to join us!
We had just landed at the airport Kratikos Aerolimenas Santorinis and P. Pack was still hyperventilating, since the plane descended quite close to the hill of Ancient Thera… Close one!
After meeting the cats the next step was getting to know the donkeys. Some were very shy and some very curious. But they all looked well cared and happy. Most of them had a hard life and deserve a relaxing retirement. One old donkey lady was particularly cute and melted our hearts. She was already very old and blind. Walking around slowly, she did not want to eat anymore…
N. Back & P. Pack had to freshen up and prepare themselves for a fancy ride: They are going to the island of Capri! Sorry, Amalfi – next time!
The trip has started early in the morning at 8am in “Biglietteria Tirrenia” in Napoli because our owners saved on tickets and we are taking the slow ferry. It takes 1h 30 mins until the shore of Capri. Before boarding the big boat we had to check in, which is as annoying as it can get that early in the morning…
N. Back and P. Pack, are super happy! Finally, they’re going on an adventure that does not include buying bags or drinking cocktails! They were ready early in the morning to hit the road. First stop: Pompeii.
The car ride from Naples to Pompeii is less than 30 minutes. N. Back did not even manage to get the compulsory power nap in the car, but P. Pack did the regular quick facts check on the destination…
We arrived at the Kiev airport late on 25th of October. There was a taxi waiting for us. Our driver did not speak English, so the drive to the hotel “Premier Hotel Rus” was quiet and a bit creepy. In the reception there were only young people and there was some problem with our reservation, which took an hour to be resolved. As one can imagine, it was not the smoothest and most pleasant start of a vacation…
… The next morning, just after breakfast, we hit the streets of Milano again. The first stop of course: Duomo, the famous dome of Milano, dedicated to the nativity of St. Mary. We really wanted to go up and have a roof tour! Instead, we had to stay close to Philipp’s legs, while he made 100 photos of Nelly and the flying pigeons – Mission Impossible!
It was a normal morning at home. Nelly clearly has not slept well, and her mood was not going to improve. While brushing teeth, Philipp tried to explain her why it is much smarter to have breakfast at the airport: “As we can use the airport lounge, we can save a lot of money by not eating at home! And think about the energy we don’t need to use to make our own coffee!”. “I don’t care!”, she replied…
